A Welcome Message from Rabbi Michael Gilboa

Welcome!

Dear Friends,

Thank you for coming to Tifereth Israel Synagogue’s website. We are delighted that you are here and grateful for the opportunity to share our community with you.

Tifereth Israel is a sacred home for Jewish life, learning, prayer, and connection. Rooted in tradition and guided by compassion, we strive to be a welcoming and inclusive congregation where people of all backgrounds, ages, and experiences can find meaning, belonging, and inspiration. Whether you are returning to synagogue life, new to the Des Moines area, exploring Judaism, or simply seeking a community to call home, you are warmly welcomed here.

Tifereth Israel has been at the center of Jewish life in Des Moines for more than a century, and we are certain that our best days are still ahead of us. Our congregation is built on relationships between individuals, families, and generations. Through worship, education, social gathering, and joyful celebration, we aim to build vibrant connections for ourselves and the wider Des Moines community.

We encourage you to check out our services, programs, and events, and to reach out with any questions or needs you might have. Our clergy, staff, and lay leaders are always happy to help you find your place at Tifereth Israel.

As our tradition teaches us, “Let your house be open wide.” May our synagogue be a source of comfort, inspiration, and joy for you. We look forward to getting to know you and to sharing many meaningful moments together.

—L'Shalom
